Philip H. Bartels, CFA
SENIOR PORTFOLIO MANAGER
Philip joined Hunter Associates in 2016 and leads the research efforts on portfolio construction, asset allocation, macroeconomic research, securities research and hedging strategy implementation. In addition, he is a member of the firm’s Investment Committee and oversees the Hunter Portfolio Series, a collection of asset allocation strategies for clients. Prior to joining Hunter Associates, Philip held investment analyst/economist positions in both Europe and the United States with Wellington Management Company, the European Central Bank, Allianz Global Investors and Deutsche Bank AG.
Philip holds a bachelor’s degree in political science from Williams College and an M.A. in international economics and international relations from the Johns Hopkins University School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS). He holds the Chartered Financial Analyst® designation and is a member of the Pittsburgh CFA Society where he is active in mentoring initiatives that teach college students financial planning and fundamental security analysis.
Philip relocated from Boston, MA with his wife and spends much of his time discovering the neighborhoods of Pittsburgh and all that the city has to offer. He enjoys baseball, hockey, soccer and skiing among other sports and spends as much time as he can outdoors cycling and hiking. He is fluent in German and is a member of the Pittsburgh German-American Chamber of Commerce.
